Synopsis: The use of Chumash themes and imagery was done without consultation with any or all living Chumash communities, of which there are many. The exploitation of our sacred ceremonies in this movie is dangerous and all people watching this movie should know that none of our community was consulted in creating this movie. This movie exploits the native culture of the Chumash by falsely depicting traditional ceremonies. Without consulting native tribes, this work of fiction is detrimental to the public in its inaccurate portrayal of Chumash culture. The misrepresentation of supposed "Chumash Shamans" and other Chumash people is offensive to indigenous culture everywhere.
